Amy Price is the girl everyone calls pretty and good, and she can’t stand it.

She carries a curse: a scream that can shatter windows and burst eardrums. Instead of hiding it, she decides to become someone else. She gets black lipstick, a pleather coat and a new name, Shriek, and she joins the Deadlords. They’re a masked gang of street racers and hellraisers that the whole city fears.

On her first night with them, she drops their leader to his knees with a single cry. For the first time in her life, she feels powerful.

But the Deadlords play rough. When a broken bottle is held to her throat, Amy finds out how fast being dangerous can turn into being prey. Her only protection is Comedy, a silent figure in a blank white mask whom nobody can identify and the gang’s leader is terrified of.

How far will Amy go to be somebody? And what does Comedy want with her?

Edgy, haunting and loud, this is where Crescendo begins.
